The Lark is old town plaza living, reimagined.

Situated along the quaint neighborhood surrounding the towering acacias of San Juan People’s Park, our plaza crowned by the more than 300-year-old brick and mortar church of St. John the Baptist, The Lark boasts 6 bespoke rooms with lush wooden interiors, an 11-table restaurant that anchors its cuisine on exciting North African fare, a café and bar eager to contend as La Union’s new beverage hotspot, and a concept store of meticulously-curated merchandise that will surely tickle your curious fancy.

Housed in a marvel of a build by esteemed San Juan, La Union-based surfer-architect spouses Buji and Nikki Libarnes, The Lark doesn’t just stand on the site of a parkside home from the 1920s—it repurposes actual wood and metalwork from the original structure, breathing new life to the relic material a full century later.

More than being a mere design decision, The Lark values sustainability and smart design. Solar panels bedeck our A-frame roof, our food and water cycles are sustainable, our architecture invites the breeze in, lets the light in, and is committed to being energy-smart.

The Lark also values history, and we value San Juan’s lovely heritage. Rather than impose its will on our part of town, The Lark allowed itself to be embraced by it; our mostly local staff is eager to welcome and serve you, plaza-style.

The Lark values the slow process. The Lark harkens back to a gentler time, when the pace of life was wholesome, when meals were better savored, when sleep was more restful. And when we have fun and socialize, we do so deliberately, with gusto, eager to commit to great moments that translate to meaningful memory.

A stay at The Lark is a decision to leave the cacophony and competition of urban living behind momentarily, to mindfully reconnect with one’s peace and calm, to spend meaningful time with friends and family, to remember what it meant to let one’s hair down, to lean back, to watch sunsets as the days go by, and to gloriously ride every wave of life.
